Scholar Spotlight: Keegan

The JC Runyon Foundation is pleased to spotlight our 4th Scholar for 2017: Keegan

After enduring a crushing major depressive episode his Sophomore year in high school, Keegan began the long journey of treatment. As many kids his age, it took several different treatment plans to finally find the correct diagnoses and discover his life’s passion. Keegan completed not only one, but two Outdoor Wilderness programs that helped to build his self-confidence and learn to manage his diagnoses and learning disability. Through these programs he discovered his passion of the outdoors and his outlook on life. He is attending Western State Colorado University  with aspirations to share wildlife with others through a degree in Outdoor Leadership.

“My parents have sacrificed a lot to help me, and this scholarship will help me give back to them. They have exhausted much of their financial resources to put me through wilderness therapy twice, and then almost two years of after-care at the residential treatment facility and therapeutic boarding school. This scholarship will help me finance my education so I can pursue my goal of working in the field of Outdoor Leadership.”

We love that we are able to play a small part in Keegan’s long term success in what we know will be a life of joy! We are so very proud of this fine young man, welcome to the JCRF Family!

Help us say yes to many more students like Keegan and consider the JC Runyon Foundation in your long term charitable giving plan! Helping students start #LiveYourNextChapter
